As the sun bears down its mighty heat of summer, find sanctuary at Rococo Steak in St Petersburg. Along the icy purple lit bar we sampled some of their finest (and shall I say, coolest) offerings on their summer happy hour drink menu.
The favorite was a toss-up between the Ruby Red and the St Pete Swing—both served hand shaken and up. The Ruby Red (right) contains a refreshing marriage of elderflower liquor, Chopin Rye Vodka, ruby red grapefruit, and fresh basil. The St Pete Swing (pictured above) combines prosecco, crisp mint, Titos vodka, and an icy scoop of lemon-mint sorbet. The prosecco takes off the vodka bite, adding depth and complimenting the almost floral combo of mint and lemon.
If those don’t do the trick, try the tasty (and attractive) Muddled Mule—an artful mix of Russian Standard Vodka, muddled blackberries, blueberry, sugar, lime and Fever Tree Ginger Beer. Sometimes, however, you may wish to stray from the vodka options and try the Bright Lights, Big City. Granny Smith apples are sous-vide with bourbon (simmered together for 24 hours at about 140 degrees), then mixed with Dolan’s Sweet Vermouth, and a bit of lemon zest. Presented in a starburst highball glass and poured over a rock cube, this—paired with the duck confit cigars appetizer—makes for a perfect summer sipper.
Be sure to try these soon, as their menu is seasonal and changes often to accommodate local availability.
Happy hour is Tuesday through Sunday from 4-6:30PM, with drink specials ranging from $8-$12.
