LD: Briefly describe the background/history behind the establishment of the shop: (When did you open, why, your passion for specialty coffee etc.)
Foundation Coffee Co.: Currently living in the Riverview area, we found ourselves always driving to Tampa looking for a great cup of coffee. So we started to think about how great it would be to have a specialty coffee shop in Riverview. With our background with Outdoor Impressions we knew that creating a great atmosphere was a key part, but wanted to the coffee to be just as unique. We decided that being a multi-roaster and showcasing some of the best coffees in the US was both rare and exciting! So that is and will always be our goal with Foundation Coffee, to provide a unique and inviting atmosphere with a variety of some of the most deliciously brewed specialty coffee we can find. We shortly found ourselves in front of an older beautiful empty building, while at the Indie Flea in Tampa Heights and knew right away it was where we wanted to build our first brick and mortar shop. We quickly got to building and opened in August 2016.

LD: What makes your coffee/product special and unique?
FCC: Being a multi-roaster and showcasing some of the best coffees in the US was both rare and exciting.

LD: What are 2 specialty drinks you are known for, and what is the recipe:
FCC: Specialty Drink #1: Cortado; Recipe is equal parts expresso, equal parts steamed milk, 4ounces total. Deliciously balanced coffee forward tasting drink.
Specialty Drink #2: Latte; Recipe is a double shot of espresso with 10ounces of steamed milk. This is one of our most popular drinks and can be ordered with  one of our 4 flavors including a pumpkin spice made in house from scratch.

LD: Describe the atmosphere and environment of your shop/café
FCC: Industrial downtown meets original old school brick with a refreshingly relaxing outdoor patio space. Community and neighborhood feel, you never know who you will see…

LD: Any exciting news or addition information you’d like to share with us?
FCC: Yes! We are now roasting our own coffee. We are excited and thrilled to introduce delicious coffees this year!
