When we heard that Council Oak Steaks and Seafood is now offering a new “Chef’s Trio” menu, we knew we had to try it out for ourselves. We were excited that the menu is designed for those looking to spend a little less $ yet still enjoy the upscale atmosphere and high quality ingredients offered by the steak house.
If you aren’t familiar, Council Oak is nestled beautifully inside the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa. I found it a rush to see the hustle and bustle of the casino while making our way to the restaurant. And when we arrived, we were immediately in awe of Council Oak’s entry where you are greeted by the butcher shop framed by two cases of engraved steak knives.
The Council Oak Welcome
The butcher shop is set back behind a glass-wall partition where the cuts of meat are selected carefully, cut and branded for diners. The expertly maintained, climate-controlled environment features dry-age coolers and pink Himalayan salt brick walls where primal cuts are aged between 21-28 days for extra tender and flavorful steaks.
And those featured steak knives? They are specifically engraved for the celebrity diners that visit Council Oak. Some of the names include Evil Knievel, Danica Patrick, Derek Jeter, Mario Lopez, and Mike Tyson. The noteworthy customer that visits the Casino and dines at Council Oak is presented with their custom knife. The knives stay on property for all future visits from the guest. Cool, right?
Now, for the reason we came… The Chef’s Trio menu is available to diners Sunday through Thursday from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. The trio includes the chopped salad, 8 oz filet mignon and tuxedo cheesecake for $59 per person. At first I wondered if this was a little limiting, but I quickly discovered that perhaps they offer these three specific items for a reason. Each was course was incredibly delicious and satisfying.
I learned that the Chef’s Trio offers plenty of food to fill you up, but if you want to enjoy more of the deliciousness on the menu, you of course can enjoy items for an additional cost. We started the meal off with freshly shucked oysters from their raw bar and added the creamed spinach and truffle fries as sides to the filet. The tuxedo cheesecake was the perfect end cap to the meal, and I am pretty sure it is the biggest slice of cheesecake I’ve ever seen!
Our tip to you: Come hungry and enjoy the view. We loved sitting by the kitchen and watching the culinary team work their magic through the glass walls. The service (shout out to our server, Mark) was impeccable and definitely added to the high end dining experience.
