My family of 4 is in the habit of visiting bartaco every Saturday for an early lunch. It’s the perfect atmosphere for two young kids (in our case, both under the age of 4). They think it’s a treat to go to the “quesadilla shop” and my husband and I get to enjoy fresh, made-from-scratch cocktails (he gets the Margarita with salt, I get the Reviver).
I have my “go-to” menu item, but before I found the poke bowl + brown rice, the oyster taco was my favorite item. You can imagine my disappointment when I went to order it one day and it was no longer available. I had to pivot and find my next favorite thing. But you can imagine the smile on my face when I received an email with some very exciting news.
CRISPY OYSTER TACO IS BACK! (…but only for a limited time)
On behalf of National Oyster Day on August 5, bartaco is bringing back the much beloved, fan favorite CRISPY OYSTER TACO. However, the taco will only be available August 3-10. If you are unfamiliar, this taco has crispy wild gulf oysters that are soaked in buttermilk, dredged in cornmeal (seasoned masa) and served in a cooling, tangy oyster sauce. As with all bartaco tacos, it’s available in diner’s choice of a 4-inch corn tortilla or bibb lettuce shell (+$.25), and topped with cilantro.
In addition to bringing back the Crispy Oyster Taco next month, bartaco also has the perfect cocktail for National Watermelon Day on August 3. The Smoke on the Water is made with banhez mezcal + cappelletti aperitivo + watermelon + lemon + mint. Count us in.
So, as you can see, there is more than one reason to visit bartaco the first week of August. We’d love to know what you think of bartaco. Have you been? What are your favorite menu items? Favorite cocktails? Maybe I’ll be adventurous this Saturday and try some of your suggestions.
(And just in case you didn’t believe me, here are our girls in “our booth” at bartaco Hyde Park. Just look at their pure happiness.)
